Support Our Work

TTG receives no public subsidy – so we can only provide the support needed for Backstage and Front of House theatre staff – with your help.

With only one salaried staff member, we guarantee that we will make every penny count. This means you can rest assured that whether you can afford £5 or £5,000, today or as a Gift in your Will, it will go directly to someone in need – to help prevent homelessness, to provide food & essentials or to deliver urgent mental health counselling sessions.

Any donation, no matter how big or small, is a practical and valuable way to support our vision and we ‘thank you’ for your kind support.

The Theatrical Guild agreed a grant of £500, paid over 2 months and a course of 10 Counselling Sessions.

“I could not be more grateful to the Theatrical Guild for their help recently. Its been an incredibly tough year for me and my family, as my daughter has suffered with some life-threatening health issues, which have seen us in-and-out of hospital for most of 2022. I reached out to TTG to ask for some help and they have offered me counselling sessions and some financial relief – which truly could not have come at a better time. We have been through a very hard time but hopefully we can start to re-build our lives, which, without this help I’m not sure would have been possible. Thank you so much.”

The Theatrical Guild agreed a grant of £600, paid over 2 months, towards her rent & bills.

“This grant has been an unbelievable weight off my chest. Usually I love to be at work, and to keep myself busy but being made to stop at short notice made me so financially insecure, which added so much stress to my illness and my mental health, so I was starting to disintegrate massively. From the moment I got in contact with TTG I felt supported, even before I had received the grant. Amanda was so helpful over the phone and kept in contact with me. Now on receipt of this grant I am able to allow myself to heal without pushing to return to work too early. I will always be so grateful. Thanks so much”.

The Theatrical Guild agreed a grant of £500 paid over 2 months and a 10 week course of Counselling.

“Thank you so much for helping me with this grant, it has really come at a low point work wise and will allow me some security and safety leading into a tricky couple of months. The additional offer of therapy was unexpected but I’m incredibly grateful and hope to use all the kind help as a springboard, to support my future. My case from start to finish was handled with utter compassion and kindness…and every step of the application process I had help and advice available to me. Many of the people working in Backstage and Front of House theatre professions, are often self-employed, or on short-term or zero-hours contracts, and many – through no fault of their own – fall between the gap for any Government support.

In response, our promise is that TTG’s Emergency Fund, will support the vast army of people who work tirelessly to raise the curtain on theatre productions across the UK – when they hit times of personal, professional or financial crises.

Gifts in Wills

Leaving a Gift in your Will is your chance to make a meaningful investment in the long-term future of the theatre industry. By including The Theatrical Guild (Charity Number 206669) in your Will, you will help to ensure that there will always be a safety-net for Backstage & Front of House theatre staff across the UK who fall on hard times.

For most people, making or amending a Will is a very simple process but we would always recommend that you use a Solicitor or a professional Will Writing Service to facilitate this process. Charitable legacies are paid before tax is deducted, so a bequest to TTG will also reduce the total amount of Inheritance Tax due from your Estate.
